After 4 years of college hockey at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Nathan along with Dwayne Blais and Ryan McCormack created a two week summer camp in an effort to develop local players. The focus was high end on-ice skills and drills, in class sessions educating players on opportunities in hockey and off-ice training necessary to prepare and train for the next level. At this time Total Package Hockey was born, providing players professional expertise to train and network players to the next level.

Originally from London, Ontario Canada, Nathan grew up playing his minor hockey for various teams until he turned 17. At that time, he moved away from home to play Jr. C hockey for the Clearwater Steeplejacks in Sarnia Ontario. He would spend the next season in Aylmer Ontario playing for the Aces and current University of Western Ontario head coach Clarke Singer. The next 2 seasons he played for Stanley Cup Champion Mark Hunter in Petrolia Ontario in the Western Jr. B league and Bobby Gould, former NHL veteran. Following his junior career, Nathan was offered the opportunity to play at the University of Huntsville in Alabama.

During his 4 years at UAH as a player, Nathan captured a NCAA Division II National Championship and currently sits 4th in career goals for the program. While at UAH Nathan served as captain his senior year, led the team in points, and received the athletic department’s highest honor, the President’s award, as the University’s top graduating athlete with respect to athletics, community service and academic achievement. Nathan was named to the CHA 1st team all conference and to the CHA All Tournament team during the 99-00 season. He finished second in conferencing scoring and left UAH as 7th all time in career points.

Academically, Nathan obtained an undergraduate business degree in Finance in 99 and also received his MBA from UAH in 2002. He received the Dr. Jeanne Fisher Award as the most outstanding student leader at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and the Civic Service award for improving student life at the University of Alabama in Huntsville where he served as president of the Student Government Association his senior year. Nathan also received the Irwin/McGraw-Hill Finance service award for academic excellence, was the recipient of the Howard Memorial, Bill McCauley and UAH Alumni scholarships.

Nathan followed up his playing career at UAH with 4 years as an assistant coach and recruiter for the NCAA Division I program. While at UAH as a coach and player, Nathan accumulated a record of 148 Wins 79 Loses and 21 Ties. During his involvement as a coach the team won the CHA regular season title twice and helped several players pursue the game at the professional level in North America and Europe.

Nathan currently resides in Athens, AL with his wife Heather and their 1 year old daughter Bailey.
